From time to time, we all need that perfect nature getaway, just some time away from the busy city to recharge or to have fun with family and friends. Even better is when you can combine that nature experience with modern accommodations. There is nothing wrong with setting up a tent, sleeping bag, and sleeping under the stars, but being able to take a long bath and sleeping in a comfortable bed after a long day of adventures, sounds pretty good too. Here are the top five glamping experiences in New York State that combine the best of both worlds!
The Glass House: A Hudson Valley Tiny House – Marlboro, NY
This is probably one of my favourites because you can sleep staring at the stars from the comfort of your tiny house. Located only 90 minutes from NYC, the 180 square feet retreat includes WiFi, A/C and a loaded kitchen. It also offers 360-degree views of the Hudson Valley and surrounding vineyards and apple orchards.
Fern – Gardiner, NY
Located in a 100-acre organic farm, Fern is a luxurious 450 square feet Yurt with a full insuite bathroom and private deck. Only 15 minutes from New Paltz, NY, and minutes away from the Shawngunk Mountains in the bucolic Hudson Valley, the views are nothing short of amazing.
Bluebell – Kos Retreats – Gardiner, NY
Bluebell is another luxurious yurt on the 100-acre farm in Kos Retreat. The 450sq ft space includes a king size bed and full ensuite bathroom right inside the yurt! It also features a private deck.
Container Cabin in the Catskills – Saugerties, NY
The 1 bedroom tiny house is a 20 foot converted shipping container cabin, with wood stove, sofa bed, writing desk, patio, yoga platform, hammock, and more. Two hours north of NYC, you can hike the Catskills, and enjoy a 30-foot waterfall, which is only 300 feet away. The only downside is that the bathroom is in a separate building, but the views and sleeping accommodations make up for that.
Hudson Valley Bali House Retreat – Rosendale, NY
Another unique location only 90 minutes away from NYC, the Bali House Retreat includes 4 pods in the Bali tradition – each connected by walkways, so they are perfect for a trip with friends and/or family. Pods feature luxurious bathtub next to the fireplace, chef’s kitchen, TV, and more.
