As the New Year and new decade approach, you may be trying to decide on the best way to celebrate it. We have a list of the top destinations around the globe that will make your New Year’s Eve one that you will never forget. And yeah, I know you only have a few days, but it is not too late to hop on a plane or car and go somewhere special. You deserve it! And who knows… depending on the time zones, you may even get to kick-off the New Year more than once.
1. New York – Times Square
I had to start the list with the place I call home! New-Year’s Eve in Times Square is world renown – an incredible experience full of live music, celebrities, and of course, you get to see the ball – which made its debut in 1907 – drop. With that said, it’s probably better experienced from a distance, at a house party or bar. The crowds are huge and you have to get there early. Once in, you cannot leave and re-enter, and there are no bathrooms. So, if you – like me, decide to watch the ball drop from a distance, here are a few glamorous parties for you to check out: If you can afford it, the Millennium Broadway Hotel NYC New Year’s Eve is the place to be. This is where you can see the ball drop live. There is also the New Year’s Eve Black Tie Bash, and the Metropolis NYE 2020 – A Passage To The Forbidden Garden.
2. Sydney – Sydney Harbour & Park Hyatt
The New Year’s celebration in Australia at Sydney Harbour includes a spectacular display of fireworks that illuminates the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House – making the scene picture perfect. If you want a more exclusive view of the display, the Park Hyatt is hosting a rooftop cocktail party with live DJ, food, and champagne.
3. Rio the Janeiro – Copacabana Beach
If you want to run away from the cold weather, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is the perfect place to celebrate the New Year. Every year, over 2 million people celebrate the New Year’s Eve at Copacabana Beach, where you can enjoy live music and fireworks. Make sure to pack white clothes – one of the local traditions is to wear all white as you enter the New Year.
4. London – London Skybar
If you are looking for something a little different, the London Skybar is hosting a party with music, unlimited food stations, champagne, and great views for the fireworks. And with the VIP package, you can also get unlimited beer and wine.
5. Hong Kong – Ozone Bar
The Ozone Bar at the Ritz-Carlton, holds the record for the highest bar in the world, and on New Year’s Eve, it boots amazing views of the fireworks that light-up the Hong Kong skyline. For more tips on where to go and where to stay while in Hong Kong, check out my Hong Kong adventures!
Wherever you decide to go to celebrate, I hope you have a fantastic New Year!
