Fairmont Royal York Celebrates Its 90th Birthday with a New Look

Jul 8, 2019 | Lifestyle Blog, Travel Blog

Fairmont Royal York in Toronto has always had a special place in my heart. I was born and raised in Toronto and the Royal York has been one of my go-to places for afternoon tea and staycations, and I have especially fond memories of the annual Christmas tree lighting in the grand lobby.

I remember purposely staying there for a mini staycation even though I lived less than a 5 mins drive away. We had such a great time enjoying our own city from the hotel. Fairmont Royal York never ceases to amaze me with their incredible hospitality, the history, amazing accommodations and amenities.

This year, the landmark Toronto hotel celebrated its 90th birthday by unveiling their beautifully renovated lobby, designed by Rockwell Group – a company known to create extraordinary experiences all over the world. The lobby’s renovation was only one phase out of their recent multi-year renovation – all while preserving their image as a historic landmark.

The new lobby is beautiful with the new Clockwork bar and giant clock above the bar to pay homage to the old clock that was in the old lobby. The new bar really brings the lobby to life – Giving a new meaning to ‘Meet me at the clock’.

In addition to the new lobby and bar, Fairmont also revealed their new restaurant, the Reign Restaurant + Bar + Bakery, which completes its dining signature experience. Reign is a contemporary Canadian Brasserie with a traditional French touch, serving a diverse menu that features seafood, wines, fresh produce, and more. It is super sexy and elevates the dining options in the hotel.

But renovations don’t stop there! Fairmont Royal York will soon reveal updates to its meeting and event spaces, bringing guests even more incredible experiences.

Fairmont has always made their guests a top priority, wanting them to feel at home and improving their stay with every single detail – big or small. I’m looking forward to seeing all the new updates in person and to build new memories in this home away from home.

I already can’t wait to see how the Fairmont celebrates its 100thyear anniversary!

Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? Face it, we’ve all wanted a love like Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet (okay, without the double-suicide, but still.) Even in 2022, hoards of hopeless romantics travel all of the way to Verona, Italy in hopes that one of the most...
