In the first episode of the new travel series, Making It With Pride, we meet out and proud bisexual pop and R&B singer Teraj and his boyfriend Barry Hoy as they travel to Miami to experience the best the city has to offer as it celebrates the first in-person Pride since the pandemic lockdowns forced the city to go virtual.
The back story is that Teraj’s music career was similarly interupted. In early 2020 he released his first album, Defy, and was on the cusp of kicking off a tour when the pandemic hit. Teraj describes Defy as “anchored in messages of empowerment to overcome obstacles, adversity, courageously chase your dreams, and live boldly in your authentic truth. As a male living at the intersection of my Blackness and queerness, it was important to me to share those stories and show others out there that they aren’t alone and that they, too, can defy the odds.”
As Teraj returns to his hometown of Miami, we meet his supportive family, join him dancing on a Pride float, attend the inaugural Legends Ball, and cheer him on as he takes the main stage to perform!
Teraj and Barry also show us around two LGBTQ-embracing Miami hotels, South Beach’s Kimpton Surfcomber and KAYAK Miami Beach, the first-ever stay experience created by KAYAK.com
Making It With Pride is brought to you by Out Traveler and equalpride video. Follow Teraj and Barry as they travel the world attending (and performing at) Prides from London to Toronto and St. Maarten to Virginia. New episodes each week.
